HOW TO GET HERE

Intercity trains leave from Moscow Belorusskaia railway station. Trip time is 5.5—6.5 hours. You are advised to take night trains to be in Smolensk around 6 a.m. on August 21 and to leave Smolensk at 10—12 p.m. on August 24.

The most convenient trains are no.603 Moscow-Smolensk, no.604 Smolensk-Moscow. There are several railway connections from Europe directly to Smolensk: Warsaw, Prague, Berlin. Railway time table and tickets, both Russian and international lines: www.russianrail.com.

Moscow is served by three international airports.

Sheremetyevo International Airport

The Aeroexpress Terminal at Sheremetyevo International Airport is located in the South AirRail Complex, together with modern Terminals D and E, as well as Terminal A, where Sheremetyevo-2 was previously situated.

The Aeroexpress Rail Terminal in Moscow is situated at Belorussky Railway Station, next to the Belorusskaya metro station.

The intercity train to Smolensk departs from the Belorussky railway station.

Getting from the Belorussky railway station to the State Historical Museum (Red Square, 1)

You can get to the State Historical Museum by Moscow Metro: from Belorusskaya (Белорусская) Radial station (green line) to Teatralnaya (Театральная) station (green line) (see metro map) (three train stops) (engl.mosmetro.ru). At Belorusskaya Radial station you must take the train to Krasnogvardeyskaya station (Красногвардейская), head carriage. At the Teatralnaya (Театральная) station you follow the nearest exit (escalator) to Ploschad' Revolutcii and Historical Museum.

Domodedovo International Airport

The Aeroexpress rail station at the airport is located at the AirRail square of Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

The Aeroexpress Rail Terminal in Moscow is situated at Paveletsky Rail Terminal, next to the Paveletskaya metro station (green line). The terminal building can be entered through entrances 3 of Paveletsky Rail Terminal.

Getting from the Paveletsky Railway Station to the State Historical Museum (Red Square, 1)

Participants can get from the Paveletsky Railway Station to the Meeting point in the State Historical Museum (Red Square, 1) by Moscow Metro: from Paveletskaya (Павелецкая) Radial station (green line) to Teatralnaya (Театральная) station (green line) (see metro map) (two train stops) (engl.mosmetro.ru). At Paveletskaya Radial station you must take the train to Rechnoy Vokzal station (Речной вокзал), tail carriages. At the Teatralnaya (Театральная) station you follow the nearest exit (escalator) to Ploschad' Revolutcii and Historical Museum.

Getting from the Paveletsky Railway Station to the Belorussky railway station

At Paveletskaya Radial station you must take the train to Rechnoy Vokzal station (Речной вокзал), tail carriages, and get out at the Belorusskaya station (5 stops).

Vnukovo International Airport

The underground rail station is situated within 4—5 minutes' walking distance on the left of the airport building under the AirRail square.

The Aeroexpress Rail Terminal in Moscow is situated at Kievsky Rail Terminal, next to the Kievskaya metro station, opposite the Evropeisky Shopping Mall.

Getting from the Kievsky Railway Station to the State Historical Museum (Red Square, 1)

Participants can get from Kievsky Railway Station to the Meeting point in the State Historical Museum (Red Square, 1) by Moscow Metro: from Kievskaya (Киевкая) Radial station (blue line) to Ploshchad Revolyutsii (Площадь революции) station (blue line) (see metro map) (three train stops) (engl.mosmetro.ru). At Kievskaya Radial station you must take the train to the Schelkovskaya (Щелковская) station, tail carriages At the Teatralnaya (Театральная) station you follow the nearest exit (escalator) to Ploschad' Revolutcii and Historical Museum.

Getting from the Kievsky Railway Station to the Belorussky railway station

By metro: from the Kievskaya Radial station (blue line) to the Ploschad' Revolutcii (Площадь Революции) station (blue line; 3 stops). At the Ploschad' Revolutcii station you should pass to the Teatral'naya (Театральная) station (green line). At the Teatral'naya station you should take train to to the Rechnoy Vokzal (Речной вокзал) station, tail carriages and get out at the Belorusskaya station (3 stops).

Cloakroom

There is a cloakroom at the Belorussky Railway Station where the participants can leave their luggage. For the cloakroom take Entrance 2, downstairs (see the scheme below). The cloakroom is is open round-the-clock.

State Historical Museum (SHM)

Follow from metro stations as shown in the scheme below. Meeting point is at the office entrance near the monument of Marshal Zhukov on horse (see the scheme). Excursion at SHM will begin at 15:00. Cloakroom at SHM will operate since 9:00 till 18:00. It is accessible via the office entrance.
